Understanding schools through the history of education.

Matt Tyler is a social studies teacher based in New York City. An Atlanta native, Matt received bachelor's and master's degrees in political science from the University of Georgia and a master's degree in social studies education from Teachers College. As a teacher, Matt focuses on creating experiences for students inside and outside of the classroom that develop in them a love for history and that help students use history and the social sciences as a way of understanding their place in the world. As a writer, Matt is interested in the history of education and the ways in which historical processes have shaped how schools operate today.

We are always looking for other educators for our community. Interested in writing for or partnering with Schools for People?  Email Matt Tyler at matt@schoolsforpeople.com .
